In May, I had the honor of documenting the union of Sandra Yune and Attim Wiley at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Due to the Pandemic, this beautiful couple elected for an intimate garden wedding with close family only.
The day started with Sandra and Attim getting ready at the Inn at the Park. This beautiful hotel was a perfect spot due to its close proximity to the park. Sandra wore a short dress that was so cute . Attim wore a nice linen suit. Both had matching Nike shoes. How cute was that?
After getting ready, Sandra and Attim opted for a private first look at the Organ Pavilion. This location is right next to the garden and provided the couple with some time to enjoy each other before the ceremony. In my opinion, the architecture of the Organ Pavillion, provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding images.
After, spending some time at the Organ Pavillion, we all waked over to the Japanese Friendship Garden. The ceremony was held at the Ceremonial Doors, which made for a dramatic backdrop. It was here, Sandra and Atiim sweetly exchanged vows. One of the special moments during the ceremony was the jumping the broom. The broom was hand made by Attim’s sister and was presented by Attim’s niece. The broom now hangs in the couple’s home as a daily reminder of their love. The warmth of this couple and their families warmed my heart and I was so proud to document their day.
If you’re thinking about hosting an intimate garden wedding, then consider the Japanese Friendship Garden. Additionally, now that wedding restrictions have eased, the garden is also able to host larger events.
