First, you’ll want to think about how you’d like to be photographed, and what kinds of artwork you want. Before your portrait session, take time to scroll through our website for ideas. Maybe search for images that match your desires. Next, you will want to look through your closet and take pictures. Consider options that are casual, sophisticated, fun, professional, sensual, and items you own that make you feel amazing. Lean toward softer tones and rich textures – velvet, chunky knits, cashmere, lace, and tulle – and avoid flashy prints or plaids. Likewise, look for things that are comfortable and elegant. Imagine a beautiful portrait of yourself on your living room wall, and what you’re wearing in it.

When we meet for your design consultation, we’ll discuss at length what your vision is for your shoot, and your goals for your artwork. We’ll go over your palette and wardrobe to tailor a session specifically to you, and develop a detailed plan for your clothing, hair, makeup, posing, and lighting. In addition, I usually suggest you bring several outfits on the day of your shoot, and I’m also happy to offer selections from our ever-expanding studio wardrobe.
